Ten sentenced of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for engaging in the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the pair's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A longstanding conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's gender.
Their lawsuit states that Owens disregarded any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and online platforms, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her current spouse when she taught at his lycée.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was 54.
